Sigg Water Bottle

There is so much buzz about Sigg water bottles. Friends swear by them. My wife and daughter both have them and I’m ordering one for myself.
First you should know that buying plastic bottles of water is a real waste. Energy is used to make the plastic bottle and energy is used to transport water, a heavy material, sometimes thousands of miles. Better is to have a filter on your home water system and refill your own bottle. Another consideration is that there is a problem with most (all?) water bottles, they leach biphenols and other plastic compounds into your water. The plastic ends up becoming part of your body, and the health effects of these compounds are not well understood, but many of these compounds mimic sex hormones and cause gender problems in test animals.
I don’t want to be a test animal. I like clean water.
Sigg water bottles are made of aluminum which is highly recyclable. They are lined with a “proprietary” liner that doesn’t leach plastic into your drink. They have testing to prove their claims. I like the bottles because they close really tight. You can store carbonated beverages in them no problem. If you like you can purchase a neoprene cover (made of wet suit material) that both insulates the bottle and protects it against dents.
Sigg does claim that their bottles are nearly indestructible but I wouldn’t run over one with a car just to test it.

Don’t leave the sigg in the car over night when it is freezing out. It busted a seam down the bottle.
We now have a Sigg family. And we do watch the freezing temps.
My daughter has a rather dented model after watching hers roll down a slope in the Sierras. She now carries is like a badge of honor.
